JEE, NEET and MHT-CET 2027: Where the Official Updates Come From
Every exam season brings forwarded messages about new dates, new patterns and new rules. Here is who actually decides each one, and how to check a rumour in two minutes.
Every year, sometime before the official notices appear, parents in Nashik start receiving forwarded messages: the exam is moving, the pattern is changing, a chapter has been dropped. Some turn out to be true. Most do not. This is how to tell the difference without losing a week to worry.
Who decides what
- JEE Main is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Its official information is published on the NTA's JEE Main website.
- JEE Advanced is conducted by one of the IITs, which takes its turn as organising institute each year, and is published on the official JEE Advanced website.
- NEET (UG) is also conducted by the NTA and published on its NEET website.
- MHT-CET is conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, and published on the CET Cell's website.
Admissions after the exam are separate again: JoSAA for IITs and NITs, the Medical Counselling Committee for the all-India NEET quota, and the State CET Cell for Maharashtra's own admission rounds. How admission works after MHT-CET covers the state process.
The document that settles everything
For each exam, each year, the conducting body publishes an information bulletin: eligibility, syllabus, pattern, marking, dates and the application process. Until that bulletin is out, anything you read about that year's exam — including dates — is a guess. Once it is out, it overrides everything else, including last year's pattern and anything a coaching institute (ours included) has said.
A two-minute rumour check
- Is there a link to an official website? A screenshot with no source is not a source.
- Does the official website say the same thing? Check it yourself, on the site, not through a link in the message.
- Is the notice dated this year? Old notices circulate again every season.
- Does it name a specific change? "Big changes coming" is not information.
If a message fails any of these, it can wait until the bulletin is out.
What usually changes, and what does not
Dates change every year. Patterns, marking schemes and syllabus details are revised from time to time, and when they are, the bulletin says so plainly. What does not change is the core material: the Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology of Class 11 and 12. A student who has that material secure can absorb almost any pattern change in a few weeks of practice. That is why our preparation is built on the subjects, not on predictions about the paper.
