Staying in Nashik for 11th–12th: PG, Flat-Sharing and Mess — A Parent's Guide

Every year some of our students move to Nashik for 11th and 12th — from Malegaon, Satana, Kalwan, Sinnar, Niphad and other parts of Nashik district where daily travel to a JEE, NEET or MHT-CET programme is not realistic. Most of them found us through a family who had studied here before. How we help

We help families find a PG or a shared flat near our Panchavati centre, matched to their budget. PGs for girls are available. We do not run a hostel ourselves, and we think that is a strength: you choose the place and the arrangement that suits your child, rather than taking whatever comes with the admission.

The area around the centre has several big colleges nearby, so rooms for students and messes are plentiful. There are a number of messes within easy reach, which means students can try a few and settle on the one that suits them — and change if it stops suiting them — instead of depending on a single kitchen for two years.

PG or shared flat?

• PG — simpler to start with: furnished, often with house rules, and someone in charge on the premises. A good first choice for a student living away from home for the first time.
• Shared flat — more independence and usually more space to study, but the students manage it themselves. Better once a student has settled in, ideally sharing with others in the same batch.

A checklist for parents

• Visit in person before paying anything, at least once with your child.
• Get the rent, deposit, notice period and what is included in writing.
• Check a quiet place to study at night — a desk and decent light matter more than anything else in the room.
• For girls, ask about the entry time, visitor rules and who is on the premises at night.
• Try the mess for a week before committing to a monthly plan.
• Keep the owner's and a roommate's number, and share yours with them.
• Agree a fixed time for a daily call home. Routine settles a student faster than anything else.

The week

Batch timings are fixed for each standard and are the same for every student, so a student living nearby simply builds the day around them. Classes run Monday to Saturday, which leaves Sunday for rest, revision, or a visit home. Living close also makes the parts of the programme that are easy to miss — doubt sessions, test reviews — easy to attend.

How you will know how your child is doing

Parents receive progress updates through the year, not only at results time, and test results are shared even when they are not good. If something worries you, call us; it is far easier to fix a problem in the second month than in the second term.
