Two different programmes for Class 8 to 10, built for two different goals. How to tell which one your child actually needs.
Parents of Class 8, 9 and 10 students often ask us for "coaching" without yet knowing which kind. We run two programmes for this age, and they are built for different goals. Picking the right one matters more than picking the right institute.
The short version
- SSC & CBSE Regular is for board marks. Mathematics, Science, English and Social Studies, taught to the board your child is sitting.
- Foundation is for what comes after Class 10. Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, taught above the school level, so that Class 11 JEE or NEET preparation does not begin with repairs.
Signs your child needs regular board classes
- School marks are the immediate worry, in more than one subject.
- English or Social Studies is costing marks, not just Maths and Science.
- The written answers are right in substance but lose marks in structure — a common SSC problem.
- JEE or NEET is not yet on the table, or is still a distant maybe.
Signs your child is ready for Foundation
- School Maths and Science feel too slow, and the child is bored rather than behind.
- The family is seriously considering JEE or NEET after Class 10.
- The child enjoys unfamiliar problems, or wants to try Olympiads and scholarship exams.
- Board marks are already solid, so there is room to go further.
What if it is both?
It often is. Board marks still matter to a future JEE or NEET student, and Foundation is built to support school performance rather than compete with it. Students on regular board coaching can also add the Foundation track alongside. Which combination makes sense depends on how much time your child genuinely has after school — which is worth being honest about.
The mistake to avoid
Putting a child who is struggling with school work straight into Foundation, because it sounds more ambitious. A student who is behind in Class 9 Mathematics needs that fixed first. More difficult material on top of a shaky base produces a tired child, not a head start. When Foundation should start covers this in more depth.
SSC or CBSE makes a difference too
